A TIME TO BE BORN …
Martha Marie Marshall Mize was born February 10, 1934. She transitioned on January 13, 2017, after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jaylyn Mize Sr.; parents, Eddie and Aris Marshall and two brothers, Austin Moore and Robert Marshall.
A TIME TO WORK/SERVE …
Martha held various jobs for many years. She worked for Dr. Harvey Newman, Leece Neville Corporation, and Brenau College - all in Gainesville, Georgia. Two of her most favorite jobs were at Lakewood Baptist Church and Gainesville Middle School, where she made many lifelong friends. her most fulfilling job was at Kiddy Kampus Day Care Center Where she became affectionately known as “Miss Mize.” Martha INSPIRED many children during HER years there. She wasn’t just a teacher of children; she nurtured and feed many young souls. Many of her nieces and nephews still refer to her as “Miss Mize.”
A TIME TO PLANT …
Martha married Jaylyn Mize Sr. on February 17, 1957. TO THIS UNION two children Were Born, Jaylyn Jr. (Bruce) and Stephanie (Nanny). She was BlESSED With six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Jaylyn III (TrAy), Matthew (Matt), Hannah, Elizabeth (Liz), Sunshine (Boopie), Brice (Poopie), Jayden, Cynthia, and Zion. She had four special daughters and three special granddaughters: Florence (Tunchie) and Tamera Scandrett; Barbara and Tara Turner, Daphne (Rap) and Shantel Marshall; and Martha Sharay Marshall (her namesake).

(Mary) Harris, Judge Michael E. (Odessa) Hancock, Mr. Warren Hancock, and Mrs. Betty Hayes.
MARTHA ALSO leaves many good and true friends behind to treasure her memory; Mrs. Mary Ann Hamilton, Mrs. Blondie Summerour (Summer Time), Mrs. Hosenell Jackson (Mellow), and Mrs. Betty Ivory Hailey (Little Puss). they never called each other by name, they simply called each other “Friend.”
But for those who love, time is Eternity.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM at St. John Baptist Church. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at St. John Baptist Church between the hours of 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly & Jackson Funeral Home.
