Thomas Joel Edwards

Thomas Joel Edwards (Tommy), 45, of Toccoa Georgia died unexpectedly Monday January 9th, 2017 in Toccoa.

A son of Gayle Anderson Edwards and the late Tom Edwards, he was born September 4th, 1971 in Rock Springs Wyoming. It was here he was raised and where he and his father owned a successful flooring installation company for many years. He later moved east and was employed by Mark’s Marine in Clayton, Georgia since 2004. He was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous where he found victory over drugs and alcohol for nearly 13 years. His theme of life became that if you find yourself in self-pity, you need to be helping someone else.  His job, his membership in AA and riding his Harley with buddies supplied Tommy with opportunities to do the things he loved most, taking wild adventures and connecting with people. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Day Edwards.

He leaves behind his mother Gayle Edwards of Michigan,  his wife Toni M Edwards; his six daughters Destiney Skorcz and Abbi Edwards of Rock Springs Wyoming, Sunny Edwards of Clarkesville Georgia, Alyssa McCroskey, Isabella Addison, and Makayla Kimsey-Murray of Toccoa Georgia; his son Tommy Edwards of Rock Springs Wyoming, his brother Glen Edwards and wife, Tricia of Michigan; his two sisters Jennifer Edwards of Michigan and Cynthia Gonzalez and husband Agustin of Demorest Georgia, his mother-in-law Sandra Vinson of Toccoa, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He deeply loved his family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Christ Fellowship, 3273 Highway 17, Toccoa, Georgia 30577 with Pastor Scott Collett and Reverend Wayne Pirkle presiding.

The family will receive friends at Christ Fellowship on Saturday from 1 PM until the service time at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mr. Edwards’ memory can be made to a fund set up for his children at a later date.
