Dawn Thackery

Obituary Date: Saturday, January 14, 2017

My name is Dawn Thackery and it is with a happy, full and content heart that I have finished my service on this earthly plane and passed away on January 12, 2017. I was the youngest of six children, the irony that the youngest sibling should pass first has not been lost on any of the siblings. The young age of 51, a solid century plus, I believe is a good time for me to pass on from this earth.

I will greatly miss my husband, he was the greatest gift I had bestowed upon me every day, He was my best friend, riding buddy, travel companion, my rock, my strength, my soul mate and the person who held me in my final hours on this earth to comfort my body, heart and soul. Be kind to him and help him find his way through the grieving journey, During my passing I was surrounded by my family and dear friends. They lovingly supported me with memories of good times, made me laugh about adventures and misadventures we had over the years, and each lovingly caressed my heart and soul by being there and sharing their love with me.

I will miss the joy of riding my motorcycle with my husband and close friends. Riding a couple hundred miles for lunch through the beauty of North Georgia, that was an awesome day. Strapping on a set of SCUBA gear and playing in the ocean, is another way to spend an amazing day. Different but just as amazing a day. I was blessed to have wonderful experiences in the sea with whale sharks, dolphins, octopus, sharks and my all time favorite, sea turtles.

I hope I have left behind hearts touched by humor, souls that have been lightened by sharing a happy memory, a simple smile, or a kind word that lifted their spirit. I would like people to think of me and smile, maybe even giggle.

If you would like to honor my memory with a gift I hope you will do one or all of these.. For those of you who can give blood, please do. Receiving a blood transfusion was one of the things that extended my life and can only come from another human being. If you're not able to donate blood, then please consider giving to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. They do so much for children, and parents who endure the challenge of cancer. Help them to keep giving the gift of hope to parents and the chance of a long life to a child. Finally, if you can't do either of these, I hope you will share the simple gift, a smile with someone you pass by and acknowledge them.

Enjoy the life you have been given, no matter what form it takes each day. Make good choices each day about how to use the day you've been given, love everyday with all your heart.
