Dominic Anthony Accetta of Cumming, Georgia, passed away Friday, January 6th, 2017 at the age of 81. The son of Rocco and Angelina Accetta, Sicilian immigrants, he was born in the Lower east side of Manhattan, NYC, NY in 1935. Raised in Brooklyn he graduated from the prestigious Brooklyn Technical High School in 1953, and was educated at The City College of the College of the City of New York (CCNY) earning a degree in Civil Engineering in 1957. He remained as an instructor until moving on to work for two engineering firms before he opened his own firm in Somerville, NJ. He earned his Professional Engineering License and also became a Land Surveyor. Known for impeccable work and exacting standards, he retired as the supervisory Civil Engineer at Khafra Engineering Consulting of Atlanta, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved brother and sister Nicholas Accetta and Josephine Graziadei. His ex-wife Geraldine (Kizis), mother of his 5 children, passed away in November, 2016.
He is survived by his youngest sister Phyllis (Lee) Bullock.
He is survived by his sons Christopher (Joanne), Gregory (Jocelyn), and Paul (Kristine), and daughters Elise (William) Smolinski, and Nancy Accetta.
He is survived by grandsons Matthew and Grant Accetta, step-grandson Drew Katchen, grandchildren William, Katharine, Elizabeth and Megan Smolinski, and Nicholas and Rhiannon Accetta, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He will be missed by many friends as well.
Visitation will be on Friday January 13, 2016 from 5-9pm at McDonald and Son Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday January 14, 2016 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with interment to follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Cumming, Ga.
