Henry B. Humphries

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday January 10, 2017 at New Haven Congregational Holiness Church for Henry B. Humphries, age 84 of Gainesville. The Rev. Wayne Hicks, Rev. Bobby Griffin and Rev. Hugh Skelton will officiate. The body will lie-in-state from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery in White County. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Humphries passed away Friday Janaury 6, 2017.

Mr. Humphries was born in White County to the late Lester Mack Humphries and Laura Stargel Humphries. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War. He served approximately 25 years as deacon at Free Chapel. He was instrumental in the construction of the Browns Bridge sanctuary of Free Chapel. He also served approximately 15 years as deacon of New Haven Congregational Holiness Church. He had an active part in the construction of the current church sanctuary. He had a heart and love for foreign missions and took numerous trips to help dedicate church's in several countries.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Earnest Humphries, Jesse Humphries, Clyde Humphries, Robert Humphries, sisters, Margie Nell Hammond, Verdell Howard, Ruby Lee Dorsey, Bertie Mae Wilson and Dorothy Morley.

Survivors include wife, Doris Johnson Humphries, Gainesville, children and spouses, Christine and Phil Luttrrell, Gainesville, Raymond and Ruth Humphries, Colleyville, TX, grandchildren and spouses, Stasha and Josh McCrary, Kendrick and Bristan Rucker, Laura Humphries, Austin, TX, Taylor Humphries, Colleyville, TX, Ryan Humphries, Colleyville, TX, great grandchildren, KJ and Kaiden Rucker, Gainesville, sister, Jean Stover, Buford, and many nieces and nephews.
