Pansy Kesler Martin

Obituary Date: Monday, January 2, 2017

Mrs. Pansy Kesler Martin, age 84 of Toccoa, Ga, went to her heavenly home on January 2nd, 2017 to join her friends and family.

A daughter of the late Henry and Luvie Addison Kesler, she was born September 15, 1932 in Banks County, Ga having lived most of her life in Stephens County.  She was retired from Coats & Clark with 35 years of joyous service.  She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church where she raised her family.

Pansy Martin was a woman with incredible strength and compassion, whose greatest joy was loving her family and close friends.  Mrs. Martin loved being outdoors, whether that be cutting grass, fishing, sitting on the porch, or riding her golf cart.  There was never a time when her children or grandchildren would come to visit and leave with an empty stomach.  Mrs. Martin loved to cook for her family, especially her fried chicken, homemade biscuits, fried okra, and pies.  Above all else, Pansy Martin was such a fun person to be around, making every task entertaining and everyone around her feel special. Mrs. Martin truly did not know a stranger, and loved talking to anyone whether that be about her flowers planted outside, shelling pecans, or yard sales that weekend. Some of her grandchildren called her “Ma”, and some called her “Grandma”, but she was so much more than that to them—she was a role model.  Pansy Martin was such a special role model to her family, and her fun, honest, and genuinely warm heart will never be forgotten.  Her family and friends are so thankful to have been blessed with so much time and with such a gift, as Pansy Kesler Martin.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Lonie Martin; three children, Sheila Martin Patterson and husband Rex Patterson, Harlan Martin and wife Shereeta Martin, Minda Martin Swenson and husband Chad Swenson; six grandchildren, Chip Patterson and wife Eleanor Patterson, Meg Patterson Ferdos and husband Mark Ferdos, Kirby Patterson, Hanna Martin, Lauren Swenson and Davis Swenson; one great-granddaughter, Avie Patterson; one sister, Lura Craft.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 2 PM at St. James United Methodist Church with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Davis Swenson, Kirby Patterson, Mark Ferdos, Chip Patterson, Allan Martin and David Hornick.

The family will be at the home on Ayers Drive and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6PM until 8PM, and Wednesday from 12:30 until service time. Online condolences can be made at www.acree-davisfh.com

Flowers are optional.  Memorials may be made to Prospect United Methodist Cemetery Fund, 5064 Prospect Road, Toccoa, GA 30577 in memory of Mrs. Pansy Kesler Martin.
