James M. McDonald

James M. McDonald (85) of Cumming, Georgia, formerly of Alma, died peacefully at home Monday, January 2, 2017. 

He was born on June 6, 1931, to the late David and Nancy McDonald.  He was preceded in death by brothers Thurman McDonald and Reitzel McDonald.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gertrude McCarty McDonald, and his children, Mary (Robert) Jones of Panama City, Florida, Lee (Tina) McDonald of Social Circle, Georgia, and Sarrah Ellen McDonald of Dahlonega, Georgia.  He was preceded in death by his son, Eddie (Cheryl) McDonald of Alpharetta, Georgia. 

He leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren:  Jamie (Adric) McDonald, Jeremy (Cassie) McDonald, Daniel Jones, Pierce Jones, Camille Jones, Rachel (Chris) Sterns,  Timothy (Sara Rae) Roton, Ryan Roton, Michelle (Seth) Allen, Elan Allen, Colin McDonald, Abigail McDonald, Rhett Roton, and Asher Allen.

He was a veteran of The United States Army and retired from Lockheed Martin after many years in the field of aviation.

His memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017, 2:00 p.m., at Midway United Methodist Church, Alpharetta, Georgia.  As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Midway UMC in lieu of flowers.
