Harry “Bud” Peterson, 89, of Flowery Branch GA, passed away on December 31, 2016 at Hope Care Center in Dacula.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home, 4121 Falcon Pkwy, Flowery Branch, GA 30542. Chaplin Tammy Sullivan will officiate.
Survivors include son, David and Susan Peterson of Atlanta; son, James Peterson of Flowery Branch; and granddaughters, Helen Peterson and Katherine Peterson of Charleston, SC.
Bud was born June, 1927 to the late Ernest & Hilma Peterson of Wolcott, Connecticut, the 3rd and last surviving of four children. Known as the “Four B’s” - Billy, Bobby, Buddy and Betty, grew up on family farmland in rural Connecticut.
Bud served with the US Navy in the Pacific during World War II and returned home, becoming a meat cutter with Fulton Markets in Connecticut. In 1950, he married Alice Baird from Montreal, Canada, and sons David and James came along over the next 5 years.
The family moved to Ft. Lauderdale FL in 1957 where Bud worked first for Winn-Dixie Stores, and then 25 years with Publix Supermarkets as meat market manager, retiring in 1993. In 2003, Bud and Alice moved to Flowery Branch. Married for 62 years, Alice died in 2012.
Bud was a Freemason and longtime member of the Doric Lodge in Ft Lauderdale. He was an avid handyman and loved home improvement projects and gardening.
