On April 2, 1949, Mr. and Mrs. William (Mamie Thompson) Johnson received a precious gift from God, a son named Larry Johnson. After 67 years of earthly service, on Thursday, December 26, 2016, God called for Larry to be received back into his kingdom.
The Homegoing service for Mr. Larry Johnson will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017, 1:00 p.m., at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 705 Summit Street, Gainesville, Georgia. Rev. Dr. Clarence Thrower, Jr., pastor and eulogist.
Larry served God, his heavenly father, through many facets of life, and for the majority of his life, St. Paul United Methodist Church was his home away from “home.” Very active in the church, he served as president of the male ushers and manager of the St. Paul United Methodist Church male chorus.
Larry retired from Northeast Georgia Medical Center and was a self-employed plasterer.
Loving and happy memories of Larry will forever remain with his daughter, Star Adams; son-in-law, Ken Adams; grandchildren, Miles and Marley Adams; mother of Star Adams, Star Johnson; sisters, Sandra J. Haley and Gail J. Harrison; brother, David (Toni) Johnson; aunts, Rev. W. L. Rebekah Whelchel and Mrs. Betty Hendrix; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Visitation, Wednesday, January 4, 2017, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Young’s Funeral Home, 1553 Old Athens Road in Gainesville, followed by a wake at St. Paul United Methodist Church from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Family and friends will assemble at 727 Carlton Street S.E., Gainesville, Georgia, at noon. Internment, Alta Vista Cemetery, 521 Jones Street.
