Wilfred (Wil) Louis Sommer, 80, passed away on 20th December, 2016 in Cumming, Georgia. He was born in LaSalle, Illinois on 26th July, 1936 to William Frederick and Clara Lou.
Wil grew up in the Westchester, Illinois. After college, he joined the U.S. Army and served from 28th July, 1959 until 10th July, 1962.
Following military service, Wil worked in the moving and apparel industries in Minneapolis and Houston. Forever the talented salesman, and after a big promotion with a zipper company, his path led him to Atlanta in the early 1970’s. It did not take him long to switch careers. Wil was a pillar of the Atlanta Commercial Real Estate Community for over 40 years.
Wil was an emeritus member of Kiwanis International and American Legion Post 201. He also was a member of Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge #316 and the Yaarab Shrine. In addition, he was an enthusiastic member of the Atlanta Jaguar Society and North Georgia Jaguar Club. Wil had a positive impact on many people’s lives. He will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Ave., Cumming, GA 30040 on 29th December, 2016. Burial will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia at later a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Yaarab Shrine Hospital Fund, 400 Ponce de Leon Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30308.
