Dwain Waymon Smith

Mr. Dwain Waymon Smith, age 74, of Nicholson, GA died Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Athens Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Smith was born in Nicholson to the late Curtis and Bessie Howington Smith.  He was a member of Nicholson Baptist Church and chairman of the pulpit committee.  Mr. Smith was retired from Jackson County as EMS director, member of the Jackson County Board of Commissioners and also a barber.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Martha Godwin Smith of Nicholson; daughters, Melinda McConnell of Commerce and Myra Cash of Hoschton; step-son, Donnie Young of Commerce; step-daughter, Rhonda Fox of Hammond, LA; brother, Charlie Smith of Nicholson; sister, Myrtice Clifton of Nicholson; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Friday, December 23 graveside at Howington Cemetery, Nicholson, with Rev. David Harbin officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 8 PM.
