Billy Joseph Pethel

Mr. Billy Joseph Pethel, age 75 of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016 at his residence following a sudden illness.

            Mr. Pethel was born in Hall County to the late Haskel H. Pethel and Myrtle U. Pethel.  He was a member of Chattahoochee Baptist Church.  He was dedicated to his Christian faith since early adulthood and was very active in the church until the decline of his health.

            Mr. Pethel attended Lyman Hall High School and worked for General Motors for over 30 years.  He enjoyed working on his Bible outlines, and spent many hours studying the work of God.  He touched the lives of many people over the years, preaching at many churches in the North Georgia area.  He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

            Mr. Pethel was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Gloria Dean Pethel and is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Wesley and Melissa Pethel of Gainesville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles H. Pethel and Robert & Inez Pethel, all of Gainesville, and John Wesley and Martha Pethel of Danielsville; sisters-in-law, Betty Bryan of Deer Park, Washington & Ann Taylor of Gainesville, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

            Memorial services and interment will be announced at a later date.
