Nellie Pauline Smith Payne

Mrs. Nellie Pauline Smith Payne, age 91, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 following an extended illness. She was born in Jackson County, GA. on May 14, 1925 to the late Benjamin Claude and Pearl Cain Smith.

Mrs. Payne was a wonderful homemaker and truly loved her family. She was a longtime member of Harmony Hall Baptist Church.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. John Kinsey will officiate. Interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Payne and daughter Martha Sue Owens.

Mrs. Payne is survived by her sons and daughters in law, James and Millie Payne of Cleveland, Benny and Judy Payne of Athens, Tim and Sharon Payne of Palmetto, daughter and son in law, Joyce and Raymond Bell of Clarksville; brother and sister in law,  Robert Lee and Peggy Smith of Gainesville; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren.
