William George Bozarth

Obituary Date: Monday, December 5, 2016

Mr. William George Bozarth, age 88, of Gainesville, Georgia unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord Monday, December 5, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral Service with visitation following will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Maranatha Baptist Church, 5135 McEver Rd., Oakwood, GA. Pastor Ty Blackburn will officiate. Interment will be 2:30 pm, Monday, December 12, 2016 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.

Mr. Bozarth was born May 9, 1928 to the late James Henry & Emma Canning Bozarth in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and served in the Navy just following WWII stationed in Washington D.C.  A graduate of Drexel University, he became a surveyor and traffic engineer for the city of Philadelphia. It was during this time he met and married his wife, Paula, and then moved to Vineland, N.J. where he began a business with his father-in-law, Meteor Glass Corporation, a pharmaceutical glass manufacturing plant in Vineland, N.J and some years later, Fiber Guide, a fiber optic company. The family moved to Longwood, Florida in 1977 and later moved to Gainesville, Georgia in 2006.  Mr. Bozarth was a member of First Baptist Church/Atlanta and previous member of Faith Bible in Vineland, New Jersey and First Baptist Church/Orlando, Florida.  Both a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher over the years, his love for the Lord was never hidden. In his younger years, he was a fantastic baseball and football player. He loved to travel for business and pleasure and was an avid collector of LGB Trains and Lead Soldiers. Mr. Bozarth was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in the Gainesville area.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Bozarth is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Paula P. Bozarth of Gainesville; three beloved daughters, Sandra (Brian) Lemay of Apopka, Florida, Karen (Scott) Downes of Gainesville, Georgia, and Rebecca Bozarth of Atlanta, Georgia; four caring grandchildren, Paul Lemay, Rachel Lemay, Austin Downes and Andrew Downes.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Harry Bozarth and Norman Bozarth.
