Hazel Lee Chastian Scroggs

Hazel Lee Chastain Scroggs, 87 of Eastanollee, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, December 07, 2016.

Born in White County, Georgia on November 22, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Lester & Julie Holcomb Chastain. Ms. Scroggs was a caregiver for many years and retired from Pruitt Corporation. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, and fishing. Affectionately known as “Granny”, Ms. Scroggs loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Terry Simmons, daughter, Baby Abernathy, sisters, Ethel Dale, Lovadia Gerrin, brothers, Ernest Key, Hershel Key, & Mack Key.

Survivors include her children, Patricia Turner of Toccoa, Bobby & Linda Abernathy of Cornelia, Rebecca & Maxie Spencer of Lavonia, Michael & Deborah Simmons of Mt. Airy, Sandra Molinaro of Clarkesville, Kenneth Simmons of Eastanollee, Julian “Jake” Simmons of Toccoa, Libby & David Simmons of Toccoa, Johnny & Sheila Scroggs of Eastanollee, Deborah & David Crewe of Royston, Dennis Scroggs of Eastanollee, 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 09, 2016 from the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Staley officiating. Interment will follow in the Leatherwood Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
