Comer Rudeseal, age 101, of Mount Airy, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016.
Mr. Rudeseal was born on June 20, 1915 in Mount Airy, Georgia to James Henry and Nora Meeks Rudeseal. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Church Harkins Rudeseal; brothers, Rev. Doyle Rudeseal; Homer Rudeseal; Wayne Rudeseal; sisters, Evelyn Wright; Orpha Rudeseal; and step-son, Glenn Paul Harkins. Mr. Rudeseal was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church, and was the Oldest Living United States Army World War II Veteran in Habersham County.
Survivors include his step-daughter, Melba Harkins Pierce, of Washington, D.C.; step-sons, John C. Harkins, of Demorest; Bill Harkins, of Clarkesville; brother and sister-in-law, Hoyt and Lucille Rudeseal, of Cornelia; 6 step-grandchildren, 9 great step-children; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Hazel Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Burrell and Rev. Trent Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Scott Smith officiating and full military honors provided by United States Army, the Grant-Reeves V.F.W. Post 7720, Rabun County DAV Post #15, and the American Legion Post # 84.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
