Born in Lexington, KY, to the late Helen and Albert Batts. He attended Hillsboro High School in Nashville, TN and later graduated with a B.A, in Economics from Vanderbilt University.
For more than 40 years, he thrived as an institutional stock broker working with great friends, first for Solomon Brothers then Interstate Johnson Lane. He found even greater joy in retirement through service to God with Dahlonega Baptist Church. Serving alongside fellow leaders to launch Jeremiah's Place Transitional Housing Program provided tremendous meaningful work and satisfaction.
He is survived by Helen Landon Batts, his bride of 57 years. On Friday, they laughed and enjoyed their final date by splitting one final sundae. In addition, he is survived by his daughters Amelia Batts Brockelbank m. Russ Brockelbank and Melissa Batts Bible m. Will Bible, Sarah Louise Batts and son David Walker Batts as well as 4 incredible grandchildren Elliott Brockelbank, Melissa Brockelbank, Landon Bible and Caroline Bible. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, devotion to family and love of God. Today he is up to mischief in heaven with his daughter-in-law Kathleen Batts. Oh the outstanding angels they will make!
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Jeremiah's Place c/o North Georgia Interfaith Ministries P.O. box 668, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
One final request: find a reason to laugh, see and serve those in need, listen first and extend grace and kindness in his honor.
