George Smith

Mr. George Smith, 85, of Gainesville passed away on November 30, 2016 following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Reverend Marshall Dale will officiate. Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday.

A lifetime resident of Hall County, Mr. Smith was born August 4, 1931 to Lester and Lela Mae Thomas Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ernestean Porter Smith and brother, Alton Smith. He was employed with Atlanta Pricing Systems Inc. as a salesman. Mr. Smith was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. Mr. Smith had been a member of several Masonic Lodges for over 50 years, most recently being a member of the Gainesville Masonic Lodge 219 F&AM.

Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Karen Smith Morgan of Gainesville; son and daughter in law, Ken and Nancy Smith of Cleveland; granddaughters, Carrianne Britton, Heather Clark; grandson, Cole Morgan; great-grandsons, Hayden Britton, Reid Britton, Owen Wilson, Eli Britton; great granddaughters, Stella Britton, Kendall Wilson, Emerson Clark, Harper Clark as well as a number of other relatives and friends.
