Robert Jerome “Jerry” Stephens

Robert Jerome “Jerry” Stephens, born February 7, 1938, stepped peacefully into Heaven on Monday, November 28, 2016.  He was the son of Fred and Maggie Stephens and brother to Donald F. Stephens of East Point, GA who preceded him in death.

Jerry was a devoted, loving husband to the love of his life of 55 years, Dolores K. Stephens of Cumming, GA.  He was proud of and a loving father to his children, Melanie Stephens Roeming (Jeff) of Gainesville, GA and Brian Jerome Stephens (Virginia) of Sandy Springs, GA.  His grandchildren were his light and heart, Grayson D. Roeming, Anna V. Stephens and Brian J. Stephens, Jr.  He is also survived by his brother John R. Stephens of Sea Island, GA; nephews, Richard Stewart, Richard Stephens and Edward Knox; niece, Stacey S. Massey; sister-in-law, Daisy Jane Stewart; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Fran Knox; and many life long and dear friends.

Jerry grew up in East Point, GA where he graduated from Russell High School in 1956.  He entered the Army Reserves on 1961 and served until 1966.  He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Georgia State University and a law degree from Atlanta Law School in 1973.  Jerry spent his career in International Banking, rising to Vice President of the International Department at First National Bank of Atlanta.  He was a resident of Cumming, GA and a member of the Cumming First United Methodist Church where he faithfully volunteered and served those in need at the church’s Food Pantry.

The family will be receiving friends Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. with a service following at 12:00 p.m. at Cumming First United Methodist Church.
