Dorothy (Dot) Wynelle Harper, 91, died Nov. 29 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Helen Ga., Dot and her family moved to Chicopee shortly after birth. She later moved to a home on Winder Highway. A lifelong servant of the Lord as a young child, she was a member of Chicopee Baptist Church. She also served at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Mt. Yonah Baptist Church in Cleveland, and Chattahoochee Baptist Church, where her husband served as Pastor. She was always active in various roles in each church. She had been a member of Dunagan Chapel UMC for the last 12 years.
A homemaker and teacher, she loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved crafting — knitting, scrapbooking and creating countless gifts for her family such as Christmas stockings, afghans, and handmade cards.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Linda Harper, James and Lynette Harper; grandchildren Jonathan and Shih-ping Harper, Kim and Jason Southwick, Allyson Harper, Andrea and Jason Brown and Joy and Frank Reddy; and great-grandchildren, Devin & Aurelia Harper, Stella Reddy, Jake and Claire Brown. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and many cousins whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clara Sloan Allison and Ed Spence Allison; sister, Margaret Jean Allison; and husband of 63 years, Charlie Harper.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Little-Davenport Funeral Home, Gainesville.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
