Mr. James Alan Wilkes, age 63, of Flowery Branch passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Piedmont Hospital in Newnan, surrounded by his family.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2016 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home. Pastor Ben Garrison will officiate. The family will receive friends 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
Mr. Wilkes was born December 6, 1952 to the late Robert James & Ruth Hooper Wilkes in Sylva, North Carolina. He was a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church and a retired machinist.
Mr. James Wilkes was a lifelong musician and avid fly-fisherman. He enjoyed playing his guitar and banjo, singing oldies and classic rock-n-roll and casting his hand-tied wooly buggers across the Southeast. Jim's greatest passion was spending time with his family which grew even stronger in his later years with the addition of his three grandchildren.
Mr. Wilkes is survived by his wife, Marsha Dalton Wilkes of Flowery Branch; son & daughter-in-law, Heath & Melissa Wilkes of Flowery Branch; daughter & son-in-law, Hayli & Dennis Williams of Braselton; grandchildren, Brekelle Wilkes, Connor Wilkes and Emersyn Williams; brother & sister-in-law, Mickey & Gay Wilkes of Cullowhee, North Carolina; sister, Robin Abernathy of Sylva, North Carolina; mother & father-in-law, Arthur & Jean Dalton of Scottsboro, Alabama; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Scott & Marilyn Dalton of Jasper, Tennessee; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
