Sarah (Tanner) Morlock passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center after a short battle with brain cancer and pneumonia.
She was born November 19, 1935, in Oakwood, Georgia, to the late Hoke and Verna Tanner, and is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Morlock, and nephew, Patrick D. Parks. She graduated from Truett-McConnell College and was an executive secretary at the Home Mission Board and several churches through the years. She was secretary to the Superintendent of Hall County Schools for 16 years, and retired from the Hall County School System in 1995. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville, and the Joy Sunday School Class. Sarah's kind and generous spirit endeared her to all who knew her.
Sarah is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Mark Dowdy; grandchildren, Graham Dowdy and Macy Dowdy; sister and brother-in-law, Nell and Don Parks; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Martha Tanner, Doug and Cynthia Tanner, James and Martha Tanner, Larry and Ann Tanner, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Visitation at Little & Davenport Funeral Home will be held Saturday, November 26, from 3-5 p.m. The family will have a private burial with celebration service to follow on Sunday November 27, at 3:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church chapel. The family request contributions be made in lieu of flowers to the First Baptist Church, Ministry of Caring, 751 Green Street, Gainesville, Ga. 30501.
