Sarah G “Jerry” Ellenburg, 82, of Gainesville, died Thursday November 24, 2016 at her residence after a long illness.
She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. At the age of 12, she was the youngest pianist for the Rockmart Baptist Church and Methodist Church of Rockmart, Georgia. She loved being a hostess and she made every Sunday and every occasion and holiday special. No one ever left her home without something in their hands. She was the consummate cook. You never knew what Sarah J. might do. One day her son Dwight said, Mama I know you will not climb on the roof of the house. She climbed up the ladder and she and her son were walking around the roof of the house. She also loved interior design. She was a true believer in Jesus Christ and her children were taught about Jesus at her knee. When her children were born, she prayed a special prayer over each of her four children and indeed her prayers were answered when one became a mother, an athlete and teacher, a seeker of justice and law, and a musician. She dreamed of reunion with her two beloved sons. She was truly proud of her Irish heritage with her green eyes sparkling. She always stated that her cup runneth over because she had the love of Jesus Christ and her family. Everyone who was around her knew she was a joy with a beautiful soul. Well done good and faithful servant.
She is preceded in death by her two sons, Eric Brian Ellenburg and Dwight Marion Ellenburg. Her parents, Dewey Thomas and Myrtice Lorraine Ward.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Otis Marion Ellenburg, Jr, Daughters; Leslie Susan Ellenburg, Gainesville, Georgia and Deborah Ann Ellenburg Endsley and son-in-law Charles Matthew Endsley of Englewood, Colorado. Grandsons; Brian Matthew Endsley and Timothy Charles Endsley, granddaughter; Mary Elizabeth Endsley of Englewood, Colorado. Great grandchildren, Alana Jimenez, Niko Benzor, Jolina, Nathan and Joanah Endsley. Aunt, Evelyn Owens of Cedartown, Georgia, and cousins Lamar and Keith Owens. Special friend and neighbors Sundi and Jeff Lovell.
