Mr. James Henry Whiten, age 88 of 1633 Talmadge Drive, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
A son of the late Henry Benjamin and Lucy Mae Leopard Whiten, he was born November 25, 1927 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived most of his life in Habersham County. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, WWII. He was retired from Letourneau/WABCO with 32 years of service. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as the Secretary/Treasurer for 49 years, a Deacon of the church and teacher of the Men’s Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Rosalie Jameson Whiten; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Jeff Nunn of Toccoa and Cheryl and Randy Shirley of Martin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Jada Whiten of Toccoa and James Randall Whiten and Debbie of Clemson, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Emily Whiten of Toccoa.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 10, 2016, 2 O’clock PM at Antioch Baptist Church with The Reverend David Harbin and The Reverend Chris Webb officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers and should assemble at the funeral home by 1 PM, Chris Roberts, Steven Roberts, Jamie Isom, Ricky Woods, Kyle Chastain, Ben Whiten, Eric Jameson and Richard Sorrells.
The family will be at the home on Talmadge Drive and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, 7 PM until 9 PM and Thursday, noon until time to leave for the service. Online condolences can be made at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors by the Georgia National Guard Honor Guard and the VFW Post 4346. Acree-Davis Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. James Henry Whiten.
