Robert Lanier Ferguson

Obituary Date: Friday, November 4, 2016

Mr. Robert Lanier Ferguson age 69 passed away Friday November 4, 2016 at his residence from an extended illness with Parkinson’s disease. He was the son of the late Ralph Ferguson and Ruth Wofford Ferguson. Robert Graduated from East Hall High School and Gainesville State College. He spent two years in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969. During his tour of duty in Vietnam, he received a Purple Heart for being wounded in action.

Robert was a past president of the Lanier Lions Club and a former Jaycee. He retired as Utility Coordinator with Hall County Engineering in 2008. Robert was a member of Northlake Baptist Church and a former member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his parent-in-laws, J.D. and Mae Smallwood; brother-in-law, Edward Smallwood; and nephew, Brent Ferguson.

Survivors include: his wife of 46 years, Joyce Smallwood Ferguson and his children: Brian and Cynthia Ferguson and grandson, Jacob of Hickory, N.C. and Lisa and Jere Allen and grandchildren, McKenna and Jered of Dawsonville, Ga.; brother, Stanley R. Ferguson, Sr.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday November 07, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Northlake Baptist Church. Reverend Danny Jones will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday November 06, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
