Thomas Lee Holcomb, age 88, of Cleveland, passed away on November 2, 2016.
Mr. Holcomb was born on November 11, 1927, in Gainesville, GA, to the late Tom and Kate Pitchford Holcomb. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 1945 and afterwards worked as a poultry and dairy farmer for 65 years. He owned and operated Skelton’s Discount Store and also drove a school bus for White County School System for 25 years. Mr. Holcomb was a member and a deacon of Woodlawn Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Ivalee Holcomb; son, Joseph Terry Holcomb; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Joyce Holcomb; sister-in-law, Ruth Holcomb; brothers-in-law, Scott Craven and Larry Skelton.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Cindy Holcomb, Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Libby and Stump Oliver, Cleveland; grandchildren, Kaycee and Jimmy Motes, Clermont, Tracey and Darrin Whitmire, Cleveland; Brandon and Chelsea Holcomb, Cleveland, Brent and Amy Oliver, Clarkesville, Tabitha Hughes, Commerce, Megan Oliver, Cleveland; Great grandchildren, Brittany, Lindsey, Jacob, Ivy, Will, Jackson, Taylor, Matthew, Tristen, Braylee, and Brooks; Great-great grandchildren, Caitlynn, Emily, and Camden; brother and sister-in-law, Joe Edd and Dee Holcomb, Cleveland; sisters-in-law, Unzel Craven and June Skelton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. W.A. Jenkins, the Rev. Danny Kastner, and the Rev. Spence Fuller will officiate. Interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
