Harry Edward Martin

Mr. Harry Edward Martin age 87 of Gainesville passed away on Friday October 28, 2016 at Peachtree Christian Hospice following an extended illness.

            Graveside services will be he on Sunday October 30, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Andy Chambers will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday October 30, 2016 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

            Mr. Martin was born on June 24, 1929 in Gainesville, Ga to the late Henry Grady Martin Anna Rea Sears Martin. Following his retirement from Citizens Bank as Senior Vice President  he joined the investment firm of Robinson-Humphries, then later A.G. Edwards. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, Ga. Mr. Martin was active in the community and civic organizations, and also was an avid golfer. He is preceded in death by 3 brothers, and 1 sister.

            He and Lois Ragan Martin enjoyed 64 years of marriage until her death in September 2014. 

            Mr. Martin is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Leanne Martin Lane and Larry Lane of Salem, South Carolina, son and daughter-in-law, Ragan and Patricia Martin of Gainesville, ,12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Harry Wilson of Gainesville, brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Erna Martin of Carmel, Indiana, and 15 nieces and nephews.

            The family would like to give a special thanks to Peachtree Christian Hospice Staff for their kind and compassionate care during the time of Mr. Martin’s illness.
