Kathleen McCrary Villyard

Mrs. Kathleen McCrary Villyard, 87 of Gainesville passed away peacefully at her home October 27, 2016.  She was the widow of John Alton Villyard, and mother of John S. and Lynn Y. Villyard.

Daughter of the late Garland and Lena Pirkle McCrary, Mrs. Villyard was a life-long resident of Hall County, who for 53 years made her home in the Sardis Community.  After graduating high school she completed a business course of study, subsequently working in various clerical positions.  Mrs. Villyard also worked as a substitute teacher and volunteer at Sardis Elementary school, and for approximately 20 years served as a bailiff for the Superior Court of Hall County.  Mrs. Villyard was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church for most of her adult life, serving in many leadership roles over the years.

Mrs. Villyard loved pottery and she acquired quite a collection, as well as forming friendships with potters all over Northeast Georgia.  She also loved painting, using primarily oils, and back-yard birding, an interest that kept her busy filling feeders.

Survivors include her daughter, Lynn, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 2, 2016 at the Antioch United Methodist Church, with Rev. Michelle Rawdin officiating.  A private entombment will be held at the Alta Vista Cemetery Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Tuesday November 1, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
