John “J.D.” Holcomb

J.D. Holcomb, age 88, of Cornelia, Georgia, went to be with The Lord on Thursday, October 27, 2016.

Mr. Holcomb was born on October 20, 1928 in Clayton, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jasper and Oma Smith Holcomb; wife: Ruth Allen Holcomb; brother: Homer Holcomb; sisters: Mae Knight, Pearl Allen, Omalee Crawford, and Polly Rogers. Mr. Holcomb was a member of Old Nacoochee Missionary Baptist Church. He retired after 20 years, working with his sons at Holcomb Paving

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law: Jean and James Short, Maysville and Teresa and Ricky Simmemon, Alto; sons and daughters-in-law: Dan and Debbie Holcomb, Baldwin, Wayne and Wilda Holcomb, Baldwin, and Phillip and Cindy Holcomb, Alto; sister: Ethel Bristol, Sautee Nacoochee; brother: Lawrence Holcomb, Chamblee; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Brent Holcomb and Rev. Billy Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in Old Nacoochee Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday, October 28, 2016, at the funeral home.
