Jerry Ray Boozer

Obituary Date: Saturday, October 22, 2016

Jerry Ray Boozer died at his home in Lula and went to be with the Lord on October 22nd, 2016, after a long illness. He was 79. 

Born March 23rd, 1937 at Grady Hospital, Atlanta, GA, he graduated from Forest Park High School in 1955. He enlisted in the navy from 1955 to 1961 where he was stationed on the USS Lexington. He was also an avid Golfer and always enjoyed time with Friends and Family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Lilly Belle Boozer, brother and sister-in-law James “Uncle Jimmy” and Johanna Boozer, and brother-in-law Preston Tribble. 

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, June Tribble Hunt Boozer, son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Paula Boozer, Grayson, daughter and son-in-law, Kellie and Kim Spillers, Gainesville, daughters Bettie Edwards, Roseburg, OR, and Renae Byrd, Atlanta, step sons and daughters-in-law Stan and Rhonda Hunt, Lula, Wes and Bridgett Hunt, Gainesville, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Yvonne and Bud Wiley, Alto, and sisters-in-law Ruth Forrester, Waleska, and Velva Tribble, Lula. 

He was “Papa” to fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was also “Papa” to many other kids who loved him. To know Jerry was to love Jerry, and He loved everyone. 

He was a member of new Holland Baptist Church, Gainesville, and a former member of Open Door Sunday School Class at Airline Baptist Church. 

Visitation will be Monday, October 24th, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Park North Chapel, Riverside Drive Gainesville. 

A Celebration of his life will be held at Memorial Park Riverside Funeral Home, Gainesville, on  Tuesday, October 25th, 2016, beginning at  2:00 p.m. The Reverends Doug Saxon, Terry Crawford, Bradley Elliott, and Tommy Hunt will officiate. The body will be laid to rest at the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery, Alto.
