Rachel Jean Davis Byram, age 84, of Pensacola, Florida, formerly of Cornelia, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2016.
Mrs. Byram was born on June 28, 1932, in Fair Play, South Carolina, to the late Roy and Emily Davis. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil E. Byram and brother, Ray Davis. Mrs. Byram was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a teacher, homemaker, and a member of First Baptist Church of Cornelia. Rachel loved her family, friends, and her Lord. She dedicated her life to serving others – especially children and never met a stranger. Everyone who met her loved her and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include son: Donald R. Byram, Welcome, NC; son and daughter-in-law: Michael D. and Susan Byram, Pensacola, FL; brother: W. Gary Davis, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Stuart D. Byram and wife, Susan, Gibsonville, NC, Leslie A. Byram, Greenville, NC, David B. Byram, Pensacola, FL, and Phillip T. Byram, Pensacola, FL; and very special friend: Debra Duncan, Demorest, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Jim Holmes and Rev. Eric Spivey officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the funeral hour on Saturday at the funeral home.
