Lamar Mote, age 75, of Demorest, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016.
Mr. Mote was born on November 3, 1940, in Habersham County, Georgia, to the late Rev. Erford and Lurlene Martin Mote. He was also preceded in death by his brother: Maxie Mote and brother-in-law: Ernest Nations, Jr. He was retired from Habersham Electric Membership Corporation. Mr. Mote was a deacon at Bethel Temple Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, volunteering and worshipping at his church, traveling, his morning coffee with his friends at McDonalds, and piddling with his Kubota tractor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: Willette White Mote; sons and daughters-in-law: Scott and Karen Hood Mote, Demorest, Kerry and Lola Poole Mote, Mt. Airy, and Casey and Deanna Atkins Mote, Clarkesville; grandchildren: 1st Lieutenant (USMC) Nicholas and Maile Mote, Okinawa, Japan, Hannah and John King, Columbia, TN, Jessica Mote and fiancé, C.J. Zuppan, Demorest, Holly Cochran, Melannie and Heath Zeigler, Mt. Airy, Brodie Mote and C.J. Mote, both of Clarkesville; great-grandchildren: Maddison and Genesis Cochran, both of Mt. Airy, Clayton and Cali Barrett, Hanna, Darian, and Watson Zeigler, all of Mt. Airy; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jerry and Jean Mote and Rev. Ronald and Vickie Mote, all of Demorest; sister: Lois Nations, Clarkesville; and a host of wonderful nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Bethel Temple Family Life Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Bethel Temple Church with Geofrey Dillard and Pastor Ed Hood officiating.
