George Garland Gibson

Mr. George Garland Gibson, age 94 of 139 Dee Cee Drive, Clarkesville, Georgia passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at his residence.

A son of the late Lon and Mary Ann Burch Gibson, he was born April 6, 1922 in Habersham County, Georgia where he lived the greater part of his life.  He was a retired farmer and was employed with Clarkesville Mills for a number of years.  He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, former Deacon and Adult Sunday School Teacher.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lockaby Gibson and by a son, Billy Gibson.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Annette Ivester Gibson; son, Phillip D. Gibson of Salem, Alabama; granddaughter, Teresa Fredrick; two great-grandchildren, Alexander Richards and Ashley Richards.  He was the last surviving member of his family.

Funeral services will be Thursday, October 13, 2016, 2 O’clock PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Turnerville with The Reverend Jerry Mize and The Reverend Tim Holcomb officiating.

The family will be at the home on Dee Cee Drive, Clarkesville and will receive friends at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Thursday from 1 PM until the service time.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. George Garland Gibson.
