Raymond Dowe Harvel

Mr. Raymond Dowe Harvel, age 77, of Commerce, GA died Monday, October 10, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital.  Mr. Harvel was born in Herrin, IL to the late Elmer and Edna Bradfield Harvel.  He was retired from the United States Navy and a member of the VFW.

Mr. Harvel is survived by his wife, Caroline Ruth Lewis Harvel of Commerce; sons, Nathan Patrick Harvel of Bethlehem and Kelly Joseph Harvel of Palm Harbor, FL; daughter, Jennifer Colene Vandiver of Commerce; brother, Robert Eugene Harvel of CA; sisters, Hattie Rice, Bernita Cross and Sue Jayne Rachino all of Herrin, IL; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Thursday, October 13 graveside at Grey Hill Cemetery with Dr. David Bowen officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM.
