Rev. Larmon Roy Barron, age 85, of Cumming passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016. A loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, Larmon was a native and lifelong resident of Forsyth County. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, 3 Bronze Service Medals and the Combat Infantry Medal. Larmon’s life was devoted to serving the Lord, through his ministry and pastoring of many churches throughout North Georgia, his family and his long-time membership at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty Ruth Barron; children, Roy and Tina Barron of Cumming, Debra and Larry Brooks of Woodstock, Dennis and Teresa Barron of Cumming, Loraine and Magid Kaldas of Cumming; 26 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Jean Eubanks, Mary Ann and Eddie Samples, Brenda Moore, Diane and Gene Hansard, Gail and Jerry Fowler, Reginia and Danny Lee; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 11, at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ruel Martin, Rev. Garry English, Rev. Dennis Bottoms and Rev. Craig Richard officiating. Rev. Barron will lie in state at the church the hour prior to the service. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday at Oak Grove Church from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
