Kay Hammel Harber
April 21, 1939-September 20, 2016
Born Joan Kay Hammel at Emory University to Rodney William Hammel and Frances Hammel of Atlanta, GA. Kay attended North Fulton High School in Atlanta. She spent her early 20s working for an advertising agency, modeling, and having fun in Buckhead and Panama City. In 1961 she married John Jasper Harber and together they had 2 sons, John Jay Harber and Travis Harber. Later Kay found her true calling in professional life….Real Estate... A sales dynamo, Kay gained membership in the Million Dollar Club after only her second year as a Realtor. She later retired as a Million Dollar Club lifetime member.
Kay was an avid gardener and lover of animals. She loved to spend long hours of relaxation in her garden and cooking out in the evenings. Kay was full of life, loved to laugh, and was appreciated by all who knew her.
Unfortunately, Kay passed away the morning of September 20th after a long illness. Following her wishes there will be no memorial service. As a tribute, friends and well-wishers are encouraged to raise their glasses at cocktail hour and toast to her life. While we are unsure if Elvis performs nightly in heaven, we are sure about who will be found in the front row if he does. Bon Voyage Kay Harber, we love you, you will truly be missed!
