Pearl Smith Banks

Pearl Smith Banks, age 91 of the Fairview Community, Demorest, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 following an extended illness.

Born in Cleveland, Georgia on October 19, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Paul F. Smith & Annie Rose Warwick Smith. Mrs. Banks was a homemaker and a member of the Fairfield Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Milton Banks, daughter, Betty Sue Dyer, great-grandson, Matthew Wheeler, sisters & brother-in-law, Fannie London, Pauline & Grady Wade, brother, John (J.H.) Smith, and a sister-in-law, Virrie Smith.

Survivors include her children, Linda & Jeff Stephens of Alto, Janelle & Randell Elsberry of Cave Springs, GA, Larry & Elaine Banks of Clarkesville, son-in-law, Jerry Dyer of Arizona; grandchildren, Christy (John) Angel, Tammy (Lee) Callenback, Kevin (Kim) Stephens, Tracy (Matt) Greene, Cindy (Jared) Callahan, Missy (Duell) Ledford, Crystal (Derrick) Barlett;  16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Henry B. & Donna Smith, Ray Smith, brother-in-law, Albert London, sister-in-law, Mildred Smith; special caregiver, Tish Phillips, several other relatives & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Fairfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Allison officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 until 4 p.m. & 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
