Garvin Duane Elkhill, age 48, of Cumming, GA, passed away Sunday, September 25th, 2016 at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. Duane was born on August 23rd, 1968 to Garvin and Gwen Elkhill. He was one of the co-founders of the Georgia Octane Baseball Organization and the Team Elkhill Foundation. He was a member of Browns Bridge Community Church in Cumming, GA, and active in the Atlanta’s Men’s Adult Baseball League. Duane worked at Publix Super Markets for 32 years where he touched many people's lives. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend and he will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife Dawn Elkhill of Cumming, GA; children, Andrew, Victoria, and Olivia Elkhill all of Cumming, Ga, and step children Sara and Garrett Boyd both of Jacksonville, FL; parents, Garvin Elkhill of Frostproof, FL, and Gwen (John) Richmond of Lakeland, FL; sisters, Stephanie Elkhill of Avon Park, FL, and Ashley Elkhill of Tulsa, OK; grandmother, Marie Moreland of Frostproof, FL along with many other loving friends and relatives.
Funeral Services for Mr. Elkhill will be held Thursday, September 29, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. at Browns Bridge Community Church with Rev. Brad Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Browns Bridge Community Church on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family is excepting donations for the Team Elkhill foundation.
