Fred Haley

Obituary Date: Monday, September 26, 2016

Fred was born in 1927 in Pawtucketville to the late Jane A. Haley and late Lowell Fire Dept. Captain James A. Haley.

Fred graduated with the Lowell High School class of 1944. He served in the Army as a PFC in Greece and Switzerland, and as a Regimental M.P. in the 88th Infantry Division in Italy.

He retired in 1989 from The W.R. Grace Company, Acton, MA plant, as a Pneumatic Instrument Technician. While there, he served two four year terms as President of Local 324 I.C.W.U. 

Fred was married to Katherine (Kay) (Butler) Haley, in 1950.  His loving wife, Kay, died peacefully, with God, on January 16, 2014. Fred and Kay are survived by a son, Fred, Jr. (Toula Wootan), daughter Kathy (Rick) Perreault and a son, James (Sue).  He remained close to his former daughter-in-law, Ellen Finn.

Fred had four beloved sisters and loving brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his sisters Ruth Quealy and her husband, Bill, his sister Rita Goveia, and brother-in-law Bob Hall. He is survived by his sisters Patricia Hall and Gay McEvoy, and brothers-in-law Steve Goveia and Bob McEvoy.

Fred and Kay traveled all around America to visit their family, including seven beautiful grandchildren and their spouses: Janet Haley, Jennifer Haley (Marshall Chastain), Melissa (Perreault) Robinson (Brian), Katie (Perreault) Spence (Danny), Tricia (Haley) Babinski (Andrzej), Joellen (Haley) Huggins (George), and Jimmy Haley (Shelly); ten great grandchildren: Gage, Talon, Brolin, and Beckett Haley, Matthew and Bryanna Babinski, Palmer Robinson, Janelle and Elizabeth Huggins, and Rylee Landry; and his great-great-granddaughter, Kaigan Babinski.

Their goal was to tour the World.  They visited all 50 States, many of them with their children during summer breaks. Later, Fred and Kay traveled to Russia, Japan, Europe, China, Hong Kong, then enjoyed cruises around the Baltic Sea, New Zealand and Australia.  Kay and Fred crossed The International Date Line and the Equator many times.  Today they are together again to travel the heavens.
