Clay “Sonny” Jones, age 86, a life-long resident of Forsyth County, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, September 16, 2016. He was a loving husband, father, Papa, and Big Pop to his family. Sonny was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvie and Ivie Jones.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Joyce Jones; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Roger Martin, Anita and Donald “Buster” Hester; son, Vincent Sams; grandchildren, Bryan and Rebecca Martin, Jeremy and Mitzi Martin, Nathan and Alicia Hester, Daniel Hester, Ashley and Jose Villagomez-Garcia; 10 great grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gloria and Clayburn Pirkle; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Terry and Belinda Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 19, at 4:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Biddy, Rev. Jeff Wilkie and Rev. Robert Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 12:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
