Our loving husband, dad and friend went to heaven today. John Charles “Jay” Wilkins, Sr., 68, of Pace, FL passed away on September 13, 2016. Jay was born in Atlanta, GA on August 24, 1948 to the late John Wesley and Jean (Lower) Wilkins.
Jay served in the US Air Force before working as an engineer at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. He retired from St. Joe’s with 35 years of service.
Jay and Sheila moved to Pace in 2013 to be closer to the beach. He enjoyed the time there, especially being a part of the Hot Rod Club.
Those that will cherish his memory the most are his loving wife of 30 years, Sheila; sons, John “Jay” (Tracy) Wilkins, Jr. and Alan (Sara) Wilkins; grandchildren, Brice and Kate; sister, Louise Patton; brother, Jimmy (Cindy) Wilkins; and several nieces and nephews.
The Wilkins family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the funeral home. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 1:30 pm at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
