Willie Leon Langley was born in Norcross, Gwinnett County, Georgia, on October 14, 1937 to Lillie Mae (Smith) and Willie Langley. He passed away on Tuesday morning, September 13, 2016, at his home in Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia, from an extended illness. He passed away with his wife of 60 years, Jeanette (Black) Langley, at his bedside.
A father of 3 boys and 4 girls: Travis (Lizzette) Langley, Theresa (Tony) Rich, Vickie (John) Hunter, Howard (Cynthia) Langley, Tony (Pam) Langley, Pam (Jim) Ledbetter and Elizabeth (Bryan) Haynes. He became a grandfather of 25 and a great grandfather of 17 (plus 2 on the way.)
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, J. C. Langley and his sister, Louise (Langley) Beck. He is survived by his wife;, his brother, Hugh Langley; his sister, Mildred (Langley) Nalley; all his children; grandchildren; great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Langley will be cremated and his remains will be scattered along the Gulf of Mexico. For many years, he and his family spent summers there and Leon enjoyed the ocean and fishing. While there will not be a funeral or memorial service, there will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, October 15th, at 1:00 in the afternoon. The celebration will be held at the home that he shared with Jeanette for the past 17 years - 5765 Crow Drive, Cumming. Georgia.
