Thomas “Tommy” Lamar Thurman, age 50 of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016.
Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on August 3, 1966, Tommy was the son of Michael Roach and the late Mildred Bruce Roach. Tommy was of the Baptist faith and he worked in maintenance at Fieldale Farms. He loved camping and being outdoors. Tommy looked forward to weekly cook outs on Sundays and being at Sandy Ford on the Chattooga River in Rabun County. In addition to his mother, Tommy is preceded in death by a brother Stephen Thurman.
Survivors include his wife Kellie Thurman of Mt. Airy, father Michael Roach of Franklin County, daughters Cassie Osborne of Cleveland, Jewel Thurman of Mt. Airy, and Tesa Thurman of Alto, sons Joshua Griffiths of Mt. Airy and Daniel Thurman of Cornelia, brothers Allen Biffath and James Thurman (Suzie) all of Franklin County, sisters Kathy Snow of Tennessee, Tammy McDowell of Franklin County, and Sarah Hamilton (Shane) of Franklin County, sister in law Lorie Pence of Peoria, Illinois as well as grandchildren Robert, Natalie, Arianna, and Zoey all who held a special place in his heart.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 6 PM from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5-6 PM.
