Charles Peter “Hawk” Smessaert, age 80, of Clarkesville passed away September 9, 2016 at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Chicago, Illinois on July 7, 1936, Mr. Smessaert was the son of the late Peter and Angeline Minné Smessaert. Mr. Smessaert was a construction supervisor for Northern Illinois Gas Company for 37 years and a United States Navy Veteran having served in Korea. He was a member of Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years Sharon Jackson Smessaert of Clarkesville, daughter and son in law Sandra and Michael Saxton of Bartlett, Illinois, sons Allan Smessaert of Clarkesville and Charles John Smessaert of North Brook, Illinois, as well as three grandchildren Tyler, Ali, and Celeste.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM from Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church in Clarkesville.
