Roger S. Dayton, age 71, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016.
Mr. Dayton was born on April 29, 1945 in Franklin, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Carmen Ledford Dayton; daughter, Karen Dayton Broome; sister, Momma Jean Hulsey; brother, Wesley Dayton. Mr. Dayton was a life member of the Grant Reeves VFW post 7720, and a member of the Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge #143 F & AM. He was also a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Dayton was a retired Supervisor with Georgia Power Company with 43 years of service, and was founder and owner of D & H Toilets.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Ginger Massey Dayton, of Mt. Airy; daughter, Kristia Dayton, of Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Bobby Gosnell, of Alto; son, Roger Kenneth Dayton, of Cleveland; sisters, Virginia Hicks, of Kennesaw; Bobbie Bullard, of Macon; Billie York, of Dalton; Sherry Mathis, of Avondale Estates; sister-in-law, Barbara Dayton, of Cornelia; grandchildren, Brannon Broome; Hope Stewart; Ashton Arrowood; Jaelyn Gosnell; Koltin Gosnell; Breelun Gosnell; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the United States Army, Rabun County DAV Post #15, the Grant-Reeves V.F.W. Post 7720, and the American Legion Post # 84.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2016 and from 1:00 p.m. to the funeral hour on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the funeral home.
