Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Norva Leona Allison Bartholomew, age 91 of Cleveland. Mrs. Bartholomew passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 at her residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Michael Wilkes and Rev. Dennis Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Leona was born in Bernard, Arkansas on October 30, 1924 to the late Jim (James) Allison and Ella Kanaday Allison and had lived most of life in White County. She was a graduate of the 1943 class of Cleveland High School. Shortly after, she moved to Atlanta where she was employed with the Bell Telephone Company ( AT&T), where she would enjoy a career that would span 33 years. Leona was an active member of Cleveland First Baptist Church and was a member Hope Sunday School Class, WOW and from time to time keeping the nursery and preparing meals for the church. She will be remembered as woman of faith who had kindness and compassion for others and always greeted you with a smile.
In addition to her parents, Leona is preceded in death by her grandson, Matt Loner, as well as brothers, Harold “Strawberry: Allison, Loyd “Gator” Allison, Dalmar Allison,and Russell Allison as well as sisters, Ovilene Barrow, Beulah Mae Palmer and Anna Lou Harris.
Survivors include her husband, Karl Bartholomew, Cleveland, daughters, Karlene Loner of Woodstock as well as Allison and Kurt Westmorland of Cleveland. Her grandchildren include Monica Hopkins, Bart Westmorland, Brett Westmorland and Bray Westmorland and great grandchildren, Mason Hopkins and Joni Hopkins.
The family will receive friends on Friday (TODAY) from 5 to 7 pm.
