Mr. Fred Robert Edmonds, Sr., age 68 of 254 Rumsey Avenue, Toccoa, Georgia passed Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at his residence.
A son of the late Rev. John Barnett Edmonds and Etha Wiley Edmonds, he was born August 8, 1948 in Oconee County, South Carolina having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam. He was employed with Cobb’s Roofing for a number of years and was a member of Currahee Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Tammy Faye Lopez and Fonda Echols both of Toccoa and Samantha Lynn Edmonds of Habersham County; three sons and daughter-in-law, Fred Robert Edmonds, Jr. of Habersham County, Joshua Kane Isbell and John Barnett Edmonds and wife Kimberly all of Toccoa; fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren of which he called his “great thangs”; two brothers, Jimmy Edmonds of Toccoa and Claude Edmonds of South Carolina; two sisters, Hazel Brock and Patsy Segars both of Toccoa.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 3, 2016, 2 O’clock PM at Currahee Baptist Church with The Reverend Dennis Ledford officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Kevin Spencer, Chris Powell, Marcus Spencer, Silverio Lopez, Darrell Wood and Chris Boyd. David Parker will serve as honorary pallbearer.
The family will be at the home on Rumsey Avenue and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday from 6 PM until 8 PM.
Interment will follow in the Currahee Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors by the Georgia National Guard Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post 4346. Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Fred Robert Edmonds, Sr.
