Mrs. Dorothy Deal Carpenter, age 88 of 3409 Highway 17, Toccoa passed away Saturday August 27, 2016 at Pruitt Health Toccoa.
A daughter of the late Kermit and Annabel Davis Deal, she was born July 22, 1928 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived most of her life. She was retired from Toccoa Clinic as a receptionist with many years of service. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Youth Department Sunday School Teacher, a member of the choir and a member of the WMU. She was a member of the Singing Saints Community Choir and the Toccoa Pilot Club. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cheryl Carpenter and by a brother, J.D. Deal.
Survivors include her husband of the home, Wayne Carpenter; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Mike Beaty of Thomasville, Georgia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Glenda Carpenter of Cragford, Alabama and Kermit and LeeAnn Carpenter of Woodstock, Georgia; five grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Leslie Beaty, Melanie and Steven Johnson, Tina and Benji Starnes, Christian Carpenter and Shelby Carpenter; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 30, 2 O’clock PM at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Reverend Jerry Stowe, The Reverend Fred Lodge and Mr. Michael Beaty officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Christian Carpenter, Michael Beaty, Dusty Cook, Daniel Cook, Benji Starnes and Steve Abrams.
The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.
Interment will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Andy Childs officiating. Acree-Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Dorothy Deal Carpenter.
