Charles Wayne 'Bootsy' White

Mr. Charles Wayne “Bootsy” White, age 81, of Commerce, GA died Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Athens Regional Medical Center.  Mr. White was born in Commerce to the late Willie and Texie White.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce, where he served as a deacon, as well as, chairman of the board of deacons.  Mr. White served in the United States Air Force.  In addition to serving his church and country, Mr. White worked at Alltel, serving as vice president of operations; past president of the Lions Club; past Jaycee; former member of the Commerce Board of Education; and worked at Goodmark Chevrolet.  In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by his siblings, Geraldine Toney, Quinton White, Thomas White, Virginia Standridge, Billy White and J.W. White.

Mr. White is survived by his wife, Willa Dean Crawford White of Commerce; daughter, Beth White Bray (Jimmy) of Commerce; son, Danny White (Melanie) of Jefferson; sister, Sarah Ann Daniels of Commerce; grandchildren, Laurice Drews (Rod), J. Ben Bray (Deana), Branson White, and Stephanie Elrod (Cole); eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM, Monday, August 29 at First Baptist Church of Commerce with Dr. Carlton Allen officiating.  Interment will follow in Grey Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5 to 8 PM.  Flowers are welcome; donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Commerce, 1345 S Elm Street, Commerce, GA 30529.
