Dorothy Jones Roper

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Antioch United Methodist Church for Dorothy Jones Roper, 95, of Gainesville. The Rev. Michelle Rawdin, Rev. Steve Wood and Mrs. Valorie Deel will officate. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Roper died peacefully at Northeast Georgia Medical Center on August 19, 2016.

Mrs. Roper was born on March 3, 1921 to Charlie and Estell Jones and was raised in New Holland, Georgia. She graduated from Airline High School and was employed as a cloth inspector at New Holland Mill. Mrs. Roper was employed for 25 years in Dietary Services at Northeast Georgia Medical Center until she retired at the age of 70.
Mrs. Roper married Noel Roper on April 12, 1952. Together they raised two children, Debbie and Mike. She was blessed with four beautiful grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Mrs. Roper was a woman of great faith in Christ and was a long-time member of Antioch United Methodist Church in Gainesville. 
 
Mrs. Roper is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, sisters, Janett Jones, Martha Coffee, brother–in-law, Jim Coffee, brother, Charles and grandson, Adam and niece, Millie Coffee Harris.
She is survived by her children, Debbie Rials of Flowery Branch, Mike and daughter-in-law Mary Lynn of Canton, grandchildren, Matthew Roper and his wife, Crystal of Woodstock, Allison Roper of Atlanta and Will Rials of Flowery Branch, several nephews and nieces-in-law and many grandnieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given in Mrs. Roper’s memory to Antioch United Methodist Church, 2922 Antioch Church Rd., Gainesville, GA 30506.
